All this in 48 hours? Doesn’t that mean my child will feel pressured?
Absolutely not! As a matter of fact, the BRIEFS™ training method was designed to do exactly the opposite (and that’s precisely why it can be accomplished in 48 hours)! Our system was build around these key concepts:
1. Children want to be potty trained… they don’t enjoy diapers anymore than their parents do.
2. Teaching a child to use the potty represents first time many parents will teach their little one something that they – the child – have control over. That makes it a wonderful opportunity for the parents to act as positive role models and utilize a teaching style that is designed to encourage their son’s or daughter’s natural desire to please.
Can you be more specific about what I’ll be able to accomplish with my child in 48 hour or less?
Our, and yours, long-term goal is to teach your child to use the toilet when his/her own body signals the need, with no outside help with any part of the process – from pulling up and down their pants to washing their hands afterwards. These, and all of the steps in-between make up the entire process of potty training… but some steps will likely take your child a couple of years to master effectively (wiping themselves correctly usually requires the most time).
Do I have to buy special equipment to use the BRIEFS™ Potty Training method?
No! You won’t have to buy expensive wetting dolls or potty chairs that play music! We’re not in the baby supply business! We do require a potty chair; a doll (your child’s favorite rag doll will do); some small “special potty prizes”; and a few pairs of underpants.
How is your BRIEFS™ Potty Training system different from others?
The BRIEFS™ Potty Training system is different because it uniquely combines multiple behavioral, motivational and emotionally supportive teaching techniques. Our methodology was carefully developed after extensive research; numerous interviews with pediatricians, child psychologists, educators, and parents; and real-life trial and error experience. We’ve taken mounds of data and condense it into an effective, step-by-step guide for potty training your toddler… quickly and joyfully.
I have other kids at home and can’t leave them with a sitter during the training. What should I do?
While focus is one of our key concepts, don’t worry many parents find themselves in this situation. You’ll simply have to plan your days more carefully before you start potty training. Make sure you have plenty of activities for the other children and enlist their help!
My two-year-old is very stubborn so I have my doubts that this will work. Should I even try it?
Yes! Remember, no matter how stubborn your child is he or she still is motivated to learn new things! If you follow the directions carefully, lack of motivation will not be a problem… even for the most willful toddlers!
What are the most common reasons why this method might not work for a child?
We’ve never had a customer who did not achieve results unless one of the following three conditions existed:
1. The teaching parent became distracted and didn’t focus their full attention on their child. This is a crucial element if your child is to succeed and overwhelmingly the #1 reason for difficulties.
2. The toddler has a pre-existing physical, mental or emotional condition which inhibits their ability to be potty trained.
3. The child is not ready. Generally this means they are too young, chronologically or developmentally
